HOW SUSTAINABLE ARE YOUR CUPS?
EVERY YEAR 20 MILLION TREES ARE CUT DOWN TO MAKE TRADITIONAL PAPER COFFEE CUPS
WE'VE GOT THE ANSWER!
BRANDED CUPS MADE FROM COMPOSTABLE SUGARCANE RESIDUALS.
Trees cut down each year.
Paper cups going to landfill every minute.
Cups thrown away in the UK every year.
Estimated amount of cups recycled.
Clear cut case.
An estimated 20 million trees are cut down every year to produce disposable paper coffee cups.
The habitat loss from one 16 ounce paper coffee cup with a sleeve is estimated to be 0.09 square meters .
About 1 million traditional paper coffee cups per minute go to landfill. In the UK alone it is estimated that only 1% of the 2.5 billion cups used each year get properly recycled, the remainder find their way to landfill sites. There must be a better way and we think we've found it.
Amazingly, if your business were to save 100 paper cups a day for a year you would save 60 trees.
THERE MUST BE A BETTER WAY!
A truly sustainable solution.
These cups are made from sugar cane fibre. When sugar is extracted from sugar cane, a large quantity of residual fibre is a natural waste product of the process.
Residual waste is normally discarded.
It was largely the case until now that this biomass was simply burned but now we’re using it to make disposable coffee cups more sustainable.

Helping close the loop.
In recent years there has been an increase in the use of compostable paper cups which are a great alternative to traditional cups, however, most of these compostable cups arrive at landfill where composting doesn't occur.
Very few cafes or premises have suitable compost bins or the means to collect used cups exclusively and therein lies the problem. Its estimated that less than 1% of these compostable cups are actually being composted properly.
Our solution is to help close the loop whilst also providing a product manufactured from a sustainable resource, namely, residual waste from the harvesting of sugarcane.
Closing the loop means taking responsibility for what happens (to as many cups as we can) after their use to ensure they are composted properly and don’t make their way to landfill or into the normal recycling stream where they are indistinguishable from non-recyclable traditional cups.
